Primarily a sportscar racer, although he had more success in karts, as well as enjoying rallying. Nicola worked as a racing instructor for a while, but now works for Zero Racing as an engineer, particularly with designing engine systems and working on transmission design. He is particularly focused on young drivers and their development through his engineering work, but he also works for Zero Racing as a team manager in the Italian Trofeo Super Cup.
