Joined Ferrari in 1990 after a spell in the US after graduating, working in the research and development area for the marque as well as engine design, before leaving in 1999. He then moved to Toyota, where he spent 10 years as the chief engine specialist. Moved back to Ferrari, but after a disappointing 2014, he left by mutual consent. Luca worked with Aston Martin as a consultant, but most recently has been closely affiliated with Yamaha and their Moto GP engine. Lives in Modena.
