Hidetoshi raced in touring cars, GT cars and single seaters, proving adept, but it was a surprise when he moved to Formula 3000, which unfortunately didn't go well. Went back to Japan and found success again, finishing 3rd in the Formula Nippon championship in 1999. Continued racing, largely in Super GT events for a while but is now retired and runs a team in a Japanese karting series. Hidetoshi is also a keen fan of scale model racing and competes in these events too and also works as a broadcaster.
