Until recently, Chet was still racing sprint cars that he and his brother built. In 2006, aged 49, he won the first PRA Sprint Series title. However, his brother Corey's large chassis and suspensions business takes up his time now, and this company which he and his brother runs, also set up, prepare and sponsor cars for a number of competitors for the CRA Super series. As well as all this, he also enjoys some spare time as a violinist and still does some violin tuition when he gets a chance. Chet drove for well over thirty years in stock cars, super-modified and sprint cars as well as spells in CART and NASCAR. His father, Marvin Fillip also raced, running a hot rod shop. Chet is of German ancestry on both paternal and maternal sides.
