Longtime owner of the Force India team, who is a businessman, MP and philanthropist in India. Mallya has been involved with numerous aspects of Indian business over the years, which include aviation, beverages (He is still chairman of the UB Group, whose main focus is alcoholic drinks), real estate, construction and even fertilisers. As well as Force India, Mallya is involved in sponsoring Indian football teams (mainly in his home city of Bangalore) and he is also a member of the World Motorsport Council, representing his homeland. He ran Kingfisher Airlines until 2012, when they disbanded. As a politician, Mallya also served in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India, for his home state Karnataka. In 2018, partly due to legal problems in India, his team fell in financial trouble and Mallya left the team he founded. Since then, he has been fighting extradition to India from the UK to stand trial on criminal charges of fraud and money laundering which Mallya alleges is politically motivated.
