The first full-time female team principal in the sport, Monisha comes from a legal background. Born in India, she moved to Vienna as an eight year old child. She qualified with a degree in economics from Vienna University, before gaining a law degree. She worked for a number of firms, but it was whilst she was at the Fritz Kaiser Group in Liechtenstein that she came into contact with Sauber, becoming their lawyer. She remained there when the company left their involvement with Sauber and so her team principal role came after 12 years at Sauber, where she remains a majority shareholder. However in 2017, she left the team principal role after a couple of tricky years. Kaltenborn now lives in Switzerland. In 2018, she set up a Formula 4 team to race in both Italian and German Formula 4. She is now CEO of the racing simulator start-up Racing Unleashed, focusing entirely on esports.
