A veteran of the industry, Robin started work in 1956 for the Zenith carburettor company, before joining Matra in the 1960's as their engine development manager. Robin worked with Georges Martin on the F1, F2 and F3 projects before becoming the manager of Matra's hugely to-be-successful sportscar programme. Robin remained with Matra until 1984, then joined Renault, but as workshop and fabrication manager, as well as chief buyer. He later then became head of production in the 1990's, which led to his work and involvement in the Mecachrome F1 engine. Retired not that long after that. He enjoyed sailing after his retirement but sadly died in 2018 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
