Popular driver who has been one of NASCAR's top drivers - he won the title in 2002 and 2005, and then again in 2011. From 2009, along with driving, he was a team owner in the discipline. However, 2016 was his last year of full-time racing for a whole multitude of reasons, but he still ran the team until the end of 2024. Still lives in Indiana and also runs a few businesses. Also appears in sprints and has a USAC team. In 2014, his involvement in a fatal accident at a sprint car race has overshadowed his career, which has included an IRL title in 1997, the USAC Triple Crown in 1995 and the 1994 USAC National Midget series. He is also a series organiser and is involved in the Superstar Racing Series and for 2022, he started running a NHRA drag racing team, with him deciding to race himself in 2023. He is also a broadcaster and television commentator.
