Moved into team management more recently and ran a few lower formulae teams in US feeder events. He also works as a driver coach and as a race instructor. As 1995 Toyota Atlantic Champion, he moved up to the IRL (winning once in his debut year) and Champ Cars, but also had pedigree in Europe as he won the 1991 Winfield Pilote Elf scholarship. Both of Richie's parents raced in road racing in America. Hearn retired from race driving at the end of 2007 to take up his team boss role. After that failed due to the recession, Hearn was left in difficult circumstances and took a number of jobs, including working as a cook, driving a forklift, striping roads and working as a sport soach. Now lives in Nevada and is now lead instructor at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at Spring Mountain.
