Now works as a property developer, but is also an art collector. Steve is the grandson of Milton H. Bren, a film producer and Claire Trevor, an Academy Award winning actress. His father, Donald, is an extremely successful real estate businessman and Steve followed in his footsteps but took up racing as a past-time, proving quite adept in US Formula Super Vee in 1985. An ambitious attempt to compete at the Indianapolis 500 didn't materialise quite as he hoped and he ended his career in 1990 after a brief diversion away from single-seaters, competing in sportscars. Bren has had trouble with the law over the years, which includes non-payment of tax, drug possession and domestic violence, but Steve continues to find success in the property world.
