Retired from racing after a few serious crashes and moved into the world of poker, doing very reasonably. However, in 2013, he stopped doing poker professionally full-time and returned to driving stockcars in his homeland. After a year back, he has reversed his sports and is back in poker, although he has involvement with team management in the stockcar series still, but is no longer racing. In 2022, he won yhe NLH Deepstack Turbo, a $500 buy-in tournament held at Rio de Janeiro. Salles was with a still-recovering Rubens Barrichello watching the San Marino GP in British TV when Ayrton Senna was killed. Salles is now a businessman, focusing on sporting sponsorship, as well as his poker interests.
