Now much better known as a team owner - he still runs a team in the IRL. Has run teams for nearly 30 years now, which has largely been a battle against better equipped and financied teams, but he's continued to survive and enjoyed a win in 2009 at Watkins Glen, with Justin Wilson driving the car. Also ran a landscape business and owned the Route 66 Speedway, in Joliet, Illinois - a speedway that Dale helped design and build - until 2007.
