Speed was the first American driver for some while when he arrived in Formula 1, where he raced for Scuderia Toro Rosso until being dropped in 2007. Scott has had a bit of a stop-start career since, but settled in NASCAR for a bit. In 2014, he moved into the new World Rallycross series and did well there, winning the title in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and then the American Rallycross (after the collapse of the World Series) in 2018. In 2019, he stayed in the American Rallycross series and after a little break, appeared in the SRX series in 2021. He remained in rallycross for 2022. Still racing, albeit more in off-road events now. After a spell in karting, Speed started proper car racing in 2001 and won the Formula Russell title in his first year, which earned him the initial attention and then subsequent contract with Red Bull, which took him all the way up to Formula 1.
