The D stood for Duncan. Amateur driver who embarked on a very brief motor racing foray, competing in 1915 and 1916 in his own Cino car with a Mercer engine for three key races; Indianapolis in 1915, and in 1916 a concrete oval race at Minneapolis and a board oval race in Cincinnati, Ohio, but he failed to qualify for all three races. After that, McNay stopped racing. McNay worked as a cab driver, chauffeur and a car livery worker in Cincinnati, where he lived for decades, but when in Kentucky, he worked as a saw mill labourer.
