Killed in a testing run. Test driver for Colby from 1910 onwards, he broke many track records for them. When he died, Colby ended their racing activities forever. Pearce was also a former blacksmith, which he took up whilst still a teenager, working in that role and as a machinist in the coal industry in his native State, before joining Dixon Locomotive Works in the same role. Pearce then became a bicycle racer, winning many events, before opening his own garage dealership in 1907 in Bangor, Pennsylvania, but he had to shut down due to lack of funds two years later. Pearce competed in hillclimbing events as well as the road and circuit races he impressed in.
