Had been in a variety of series since Formula 1, including NASCAR trucks, but 2011 saw a surprise return to Grand Prix racing with HRT, which he continued in 2012. In 2013, he moved to Auto GP and in 2014, to Super Formula, in which he remained in 2018. In 2019, he moved to Super GT. In 2020, he took a sabbatical from driving to concentrate on his lower formulae teams in India and his work as a driver coach and PR/business ambassador roles in his home country. He still does that but returned to racing in 2021 in endurance events. More recently he is a tester and brand ambassador for a tyre company. Narain's father was also in motorsport, as he was a rally driver, winning the South Indian Rally on numerous occasions. He also runs DriveX, a large multi-motor vehicle technical centre in India.
