Joined his brother in off-road racing, but now retired from all racing. He was a very much hands-on manager (and company vice-president) of 5 equipment rental companies in California, following in his father's footsteps - indeed Mike got his first job sweeping the floors of his father's store all those years ago, until the business was sold in 2005. Groff is now involved in the automobile repair business. Groff was the 1989 Indy Lights Champion who was also very adept in Super Vee. He started his career in quarter-midgets when ten years old before eventually moving into USRC Midgets in the early 1980's.
