Racer in both Mexico and the US. Primarily raced in sportscars and raced between 1972 and 1989, mostly in America and Mexico, but he also raced at Le Mans 3 times. Bolanos was also Mexican Formula Ford champion in 1977 and 1978 and raced in Mexican Formula 2. His son, by the same name, is also a racer and Juan Carlos supports him, as well as keeping a number of other links to the sport. Bolanos also ran a workshop for many years, partly to help with racing. Often referred to as "Huevo", Bolanos is the grand-nephew of former Mexican President Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, who was still in power when Juan Carlos started his career against the wishes of his father - in fact Bolanos told his dad he was going on a picnic! However, Bolanos' father was soon a great supporter of his career and helped him progress. Retired in 1989 after being injured in a sportscar crash. Juan Carlos stays involved by running a motorcycling school and coaching programme.
