The oldest driver in Indy 500 history, Reynolds was also born the longest time ago, over 150 years ago. Despite his age when he appeared at Indianapolis, he was competitive, winning hillclimbs and mountain challenges between 1915 and 1918. He decided to enter the Indy 500 as he 'couldn't find any driver good enough'! However, racing led to his death, as he crashed in 1921, suffered injuries from which he never recovered from, and the illnesses which developed as a result. The first driver to hold a racing licence in Montana, Reynolds was the owner of the Boulder Springs Hotel in Boulder, Montana, and was Chief of Police in Butte, Montana for some while. Until his 1921 accident, he was extremely active and well known in Montana, and was even a top roller-skater!!
