Italian aristocrat and gentleman racer who raced wearing silk shirts rather than overalls! Rol achieved his best results in sportscars. Died off the coast of Rapallo, committing suicide, as he had recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Franco was a specialist in sportscars and endurance racing, including the Mille Miglia. After Franco suffered a serious crash in 1953, in which he sustained injuries and wrote off the car he was driving, he decided to retire.
