Scottish Hill Climb Championship 1978
Jimmy Jack shook up the single-seater classes for 1978 by acquiring the ex-Norman Dickson F2 March 772, and shared it with Charlie Munro. Jim Campbell still had his Brabham BT35-BDA and continued to hold sway, taking maximum points at the first four events before Jack won at the next three. Campbell's second place at Kinkell was enough to secure the title.
Also in the single-seater classes were Bill Lord in a Chevron B20, Olly Ross in a 1968 Brabham BT21C and Bob Hutchinson in a Tecno of similar vintage. With more English drivers travelling north of the border for the first four rounds, there were less places in the Top 10 for the lesser local cars.
The sports racing cars were led by Norrie Galbraith and Tom MacMillan, both in updated Mallock Mk 8s. The Special Saloons were well represented by the Hillman Imps of Barrogill Angus and Ricky Gauld.
