Scottish Hill Climb Championship 1977
Jim Campbell fitted his old Brabham BT35 with a Cosworth BDA for 1977, which gave it a new lease of life. His battle for the 1977 title with Norrie Galbraith's Mallock sports car was the closest the series had seen. Galbraith set BTD in his second run at Rumster on 28 August to edge past Campbell and take a narrow 3-point lead into the final round at Kinkell in October. Galbraith then again won at Kinkell, by just 0.41s, to take the title.
There were no new single-seaters of any significance. Charlie Munroe drove Jimmy Jack's Chevron B25-FVC and Russell Paterson took over Alan Thomson's Chevron B17-Holbay.
With the single-seaters having thinned out again, Special Saloons returned to the Top 10 in large numbers. In the 1-litre class, Barrogill Angus and Jimmy Jack shared the latter's 1-litre Hillman Imp, but were beaten to the title by Ricky Gauld in a very similar Sunbeam Stiletto. In the 1300cc class, John Whyte was champion with a Mini 1275 GT.
