Central Division SCCA Formula A 1967
Tom Jones had acquired an ex-Formula 2 Cooper T82 directly from the Cooper factory, into which had been squeezed a 2-litre Climax V8 engine. If only he'd had some opposition, this could have bene a very competitive car. He won his class in SCCA Nationals at Nelson Ledges and Watkins Glen in August 1967, and then entered the Canadian Grand Prix, where he was predictably a non-qualifier. He took pole position at the Runoffs but retired from the race.
