Parachuted into a Formula 1 drive in a Ferrari, aged just eighteen, when Carlos Sainz fell ill with appendicitis at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix of 2024, Bearman did a great job to finish seventh on his debut. A reserve driver for Haas, as well as Ferrari, Bearman started in karts, before competing in German ADAC Formula 4 and Italian Formula 4, winning races in both series. In 2021, he then took both titles, at the age of just sixteen, earning him a Ferrari contract, numerous awards and a Formula 3 drive. In 2023, he had an excellent debut season in Formula 2, winning four times and finishing sixth in the championship. In early 2024, he was one of three reserve drivers named for Ferrari but lucked in somewhat as he was already in Saudi Arabia competing in Formula 2. His father David was a club racer but is better known for his many years at the helm of insurance businesses. In 2025, Oliver was promoted to the Haas F1 seat.
