Jones also has British nationality and parentage, but was born, bred and starting racing in the United Arab Emirates. He moved to Britain in 2011, competing in a number of lower formulae Renault-based series before moving up to Formula 3. He won the European Formula 3 Open title in 2015, before moving to the US with Carlin, the same team for whom he drove in Formula 3. He then became Indy Lights champion in 2016, winning his first three races in the category, and subsequently moved up to Indycar for 2017. He remained there until 2019, after spending time with Ganassi in 2018. In 2020, he moved into the DTM and in 2021, to IMSA, but also returned to Indycar. He was in IMSA again in 2023, but moved into NASCAR Xfinity in 2024.
