Director of Operations at Williams from 2001-2011, Sam then joined McLaren as their sports director. He left that role at the end of 2014 in order to move back to Australia and spend more time with his family and pursue other motorsport projects there. Before joining Williams, Michael worked in Formula Holden and then, in Formula 1, for Lotus and Jordan in various roles, including as a race engineer and also in research and development. Sam is now working with both Australia's motor racing safety body and Australian V8 Supercar team Triple Eight as a consultant. In 2022, Sam became the head of the FIA Safety Commission.
