Lived a long, happy life, retiring to Norfolk, where he died a few months shy of 99 years of age. Remarried at the age of 80! For many years, he was a successful artist nationwide, indeed he was an artist when racing. In truth, his racing career was a fun hobby, but he was adept in Formula Libre, and particularly in speed trials. After a visit to New Zealand to race in early 1956, Marr retired from racing to concentrate on his painting. A baronet, he could officially title himself as Sir Leslie, but chose not to use the hereditary title. His father, the first baronet, was Sir James Marr, a shipbuilder, who died when Marr was just nine years old. He served in the RAF during World War Two and as an artist, was a student of the famed artist David Bomberg and later married his stepdaughter, Dina Mendelson.
