John built a sandwich shop empire whilst he was a teenager and then moved to Australia to develop it, which is where he started racing for fun. When he moved back to the United States for business reasons, he started racing there, including an attempt at the Indianapolis 500. John is no longer driving as he now runs a number of restaurants, as well as a cosmetic company and an ATM business. As a racer, John also raced in Formula Holden and the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
